Traffic Curbs Announced for Anti-Drug Rally in Shopian

   

SRINAGAR: Traffic movement in parts of Shopian district will remain suspended for several hours on Saturday in view of a Mega Padyatra being organised under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, authorities said.

According to an advisory issued by the Traffic Police Office Rural Kashmir, vehicular movement from Balpora Crossing to Old Bus Stand via Jahangir Chowk Shopian will remain completely suspended from 0400 hours to 1500 hours on May 23, 2026. Motorists have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel in Shopian town during the event.

To ensure regulated movement of traffic, authorities have issued alternative routes for commuters. Vehicles travelling from Poonch and Rajouri towards Herpora, Pulwama and Srinagar will be diverted via Old Bus Stand, Tak Mohalla, Sangloo, Habdipora, Pinjura, Trenz, Pulwama and Srinagar.

Besides, traffic from Srinagar and Pulwama towards Shopian, Poonch and Rajouri will be routed through Keegam, Mispora Udoora, Trenz, Pinjura, Habdipora, Sangloo, Tak Mohalla via Kanipora and Herpora.

Pulwama-bound traffic from Shadab Karewa, Zawoora, Manloo and Narpora will move via Kralchak, Rajpora and Tiken, while emergency vehicles from Herpora, Imamsahib, Zainpora and Trenz will be allowed through Sangloo and Bonbazaar Shopian towards District Hospital Shopian.

Authorities have urged commuters to follow the diversions and comply with instructions for smooth conduct of the event and traffic regulation.
