SRINAGAR: Delhi Police has refused permission for a protest planned by the Cockroach Janta Party and several student organisations against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar at Jantar Mantar on October 10, citing a late application and alleged violations of rules during an earlier demonstration, a senior police officer said on Friday.

Joint Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Nupur Prasad said the organisers submitted their application on October 7, just three days before the proposed demonstration, whereas the rules require applications to be filed at least 10 days in advance.
Prasad also cited violations during a previous protest as a reason for denying permission.
She said prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) were in force across the New Delhi district. The provision empowers authorities to impose restrictions to prevent potential disturbances and maintain public order.
The proposed demonstration was directed against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Police did not grant permission for the gathering at Jantar Mantar, the designated protest venue in the national capital.
