SRINAGAR: A 44-year-old trekker from Delhi, identified as Rohit Sayal, died while trekking in the Gangbal region of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Friday.
As per media reports, Sayal was part of a 15-member trekking group when he reportedly succumbed to extreme weather conditions near Satsar.
The trekker is believed to have died due to low oxygen levels, cold, and harsh weather conditions while trekking in the high-altitude Gangbal region.
Upon receiving reports of the incident, a team from Kangan Police Station, along with the Army and local residents, recovered the body and transported it to Trauma Hospital Kangan for medico-legal formalities. The body has been sent to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Kangan for further examination.
