Condemning the re-arrest of Sarjan Barkati after his PSA was quashed by a court, Dukhtaran-e-Millat Thursday said that the re-arrest of Barkati is height of suppression.

In a statement, the secretary general of Dukhtaran, Nahida Nasreen said, “while the court had quashed his PSA but the police arrested him again, which is highly condemnable.”

Barkati was arrested on Oct 1 and was later booked under Public Safety Act and shifted to Kotbalwal jail.

The re-arrest of Barkati is political retribution, Nasreen said, “Puppet Mehbooba is afraid, lest she may not lose the chair and that is why she is violating the directions of court, basic fundamental rights, and moral values and has arrested Barkati again”.

The attitude towards Barkati is dictatorial and barbaric. There is no legal or constitutional justification of prolonging his detention, Nasreen said, “Barkati was influential in arranging massive pro-Pakistan rallies in the parts of south Kashmir therefore unnerving the puppet regime.”

“Jammu and Kashmir is directly ruled by Sangh Parivaar, sitting in Delhi and their local stooges have no authority in any of the affairs. We are facing this lawlessness for last 70 years and the oppressor is bulldozing every move which they think can be detrimental in challenging their authority. Those with tall claims of democracy and upholding the ethos of law and judiciary molest these institutions themselves.”
