Criticizing the government for keeping the party chairperson, Syedah Aasiyeh Andrabi and others jailed, Dukhtaran-e-Millat on Thursday expressed serious concern over the continued detention of Andrabi and other part leaders and demanded their immediate release.

The DeM spokesman in a statement said that suppressing the genuine voices and continued arrest of pro-freedom leaders and activists are deliberate acts to disrupt situation and create uncertainty in Kashmir.

The spokesman added that continuous incarceration of the party chairperson, general secretary, Nahida Nasreen, press secretary, Sofi Fehmeeda and two other innocent girls is nothing but political vendetta.

“The members, however, said that by jailing or by torturing the DeM leaders will not break the will of the leaders or its cadre from pursuing the freedom struggle.

DeM said that the world in general and Kashmir, in particular, should take note of this selective outrage over the death of a youth. There were outrage and anguish expressed over the death of Chennai youth, but no one bothered to say a word over the killings of five civilians who were recently killed in forces action before the tourist’s death.

“A school going kid was killed in his school uniform and no one uttered a word about that. Is the blood of our children that cheap.” the spokesman quoted DeM saying.
