While Supporting strike call on 9th and 11th Feb, Dukhtaran-e-Millat chairperson Aasiyeh Andrabi Sunday said that the “oppressed nation” should introspect and renew its commitment towards the cause of “freedom from India” for which thousands of people including Maqbool Bhat and Afzal Guru were “brutally killed” by the Indian state.

In a statement issued to the press Aasiyeh Andrabi paid “glowing tributes” to Maqbool Bhat and Afzal Guru and said that both were “great martyrs” who sacrificed their lives to “free Jammu and Kashmir from the brutal Indian state”.

DeM Chairperson said that 9th and 11th February episodes are few among those “blots” which have further “distorted the face of India”, the “so called biggest democracy” of the world.

She said that both the “freedom fighters”, Maqbool Bhat and Afzal Guru, were “brutally hanged” just because they wanted “oppressed nation” of Jammu Kashmir’s liberation from “Indian occupation”.

She however regretted and said that the nation of these “martyrs” seems to have been forgotten not only them as well as their goal.

Aasiyeh Andrabi said that observing a customary shutdown only would not be enough to remember and tribute these “great heroes” but what is needed is to introspect and renew the commitment to the cause.

“Observing shutdowns on these days is not enough but what is needed is that whole nation, including the leadership, should introspect and observe these days as the days of renewing the commitment.”

“While a shutdown call has already been given on both these days we all should protest strongly on these days and raise a voice against the Indian occupation and its atrocities on the oppressed nation of Jammu Kashmir,” Aasiyeh added.
