The protests demanding regularization of services by the National Youth Corps Thursday spilled over to secretariat after a group of female protesters turned up outside the building shouting slogans against the government.
The protesters threatened self-immolation if the government did not realize their demands. They said that they had no other option but to end their lives. “We are facing lot of hardships but government seems to be unmoved,” said a protester.
“Our livelihood is at stake, if government won’t take any action, we will burn ourselves because that is the only option left.”
Pertinently, NYC has been camped inside the premises of Pratap Park for over a month now staging fast unto death strike. Over hundred protesters who have been surviving on the intravenous have been hospitalized due to weakness and fatigue. State Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu visited the protesters twice while many other politicians across the spectrum also paid a visit.
