SRINAGAR: Terming huge number of non-state subjects entering Kashmir as a matter of great concern, MLA Langate Eng Rasheed has asked Government to deport slum creators.

“For the last few years thousands of families who are neither professional labourers nor tourists do enter valley at the start of summer and occupy the pastures and other fields in city, towns and villages without any purpose or permission,” Rasheed told a gathering in north Kashmir. “They erect fabricated huts overnight and nobody knows about their intentions. It is strange that while Kashmiris have to prove their identity ten times a day, even in their bed rooms, these uninvited suspicious folks are at liberty to occupy any place of their will and nobody could even dare to touch them. People have a right to know that with whose permission do they come here, what are their activities and why doesn’t state administration bothered to even keep record of their activities and other related bio-data. It is obvious that there seems to be some conspiracy behind the whole story as every year not only their number increases but they do come and settle in a more organised way everywhere. There is every apprehension that this all is being done as a part of a long term plan to settle them someday permanently in Kashmir and they may never return back in coming years”.

Rasheed asked Mehbooba government to understand the sensitivity of the matter and sought immediate deportation of these people whose number has risen to more than two lakh.
