Even as more than a year has passed since the FIR was filed against an erring official of the J&K State Handloom Corporation, the government is yet taken any action.

Sources told Kashmir Life that VK Koul, the then Project Manager at Processing House, Samba had illegally authorized the auction of old machinery to the lowest bidder and extracted monetary concessions from him in return.

The FIR, sources said, was filed last year vide number 22/2014. Besides Koul, there were some other members of the department that were involved in the scam, sources said. The charges were reportedly pressed by the vigilance itself.

According to sources, government took no headway in this regard and instead it involved the official in more and more assignments. “Government last year made him a member of Relief committee that oversaw distribution of blankets and other relief materials among the flood victims,” they said.

Pertinently, this comes close to the heels when government has intensified its drive to weed out the “deadwood.” Earlier this month, government sacked 63 officials involved in the various kinds of irregularities.
