As Government of India on Monday called off foreign secretary level talks, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Monday termed it ‘unfortunate’- stating that it vindicates that New Delhi has a ‘confrontationist’ policy on Kashmir issue.

“It vindicates that New Delhi never wants to resolve Kashmir peacefully and those who say that Kashmir cannot be solved with talks are proven right,” Geelani told KNS over phone.

He maintained further that it is the routine exercise that whenever Pakistan enters into talks with GOI, it takes on board Kashmir’s resistance leadership and that the present move is nothing sans the reflection of the mindset that reveals that how much politically immature the political leadership of New Delhi is.

The Huriyat (G) chairman maintained that said that it has been the stand of his amalgam that New Delhi was never serious to resolve Kashmir peacefully and was all the time hell bent upon making the situation more volatile and turbulent.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat Conference (G) spokesperson Ayaz Akbar in a statement said that the Hurriyat (G) team led by Syed Ali Geelani will leave for New Delhi on August 19 and will held the meeting with the Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit despite GOI’s announcement of calling off the foreign secretary level talks. “We will meet the Pakistan High Commissioner at New Delhi on August 19 and apprise Basit over the stand of Hurriyat (G) vis-à-vis Kashmir.”
