Special Operations Group of police from Srinagar detained four persons from their respective homes in Pampore town of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, official sources told GNS Monday.

They identified the four persons as Punjab National Bank employee (PNB) Farooq Ahmad Khandey of Batpora Ladu, Mudasir Ahmad Bhat (running a tyre shop in Pampore) of Kunibal Pampore, Jan Mohammad Khandey of Neij Pampore and Manzoor Ahmad Joo of Woyen Pampore.

Sources said that the detained persons are being questioned and their role in connection with the Pampore attacks is being ascertained.

Pertinently, on August 11 militants attacked a BSF convoy on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway near Pampore in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district leaving nine BSF men including Assistant Commandant injured.

On August 12, militants shot dead a railway policeman Rajinder Singh near Malangpora railway track in Pulwama district.

On August 13, two policemen and a civilian were killed after militants attack police vehicle at Galander area of Pampore in Pulwama district.

On August 16, militants attacked a BSF Gypsy in Koil area of Pulwama that left two BSF men dead while four others were injured.

Meanwhile, police on Sunday registered a case in connection with the militant attack on BSF in Koil Pulwama under FIR no. 204/2014 under section 302, 307 and 7/25 I A Act.
