SRINAGAR: The Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has authorised the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCC&I) to issue “Certificate of Origin” to the exporters of Jammu and Kashmir.

An order issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry; Government of India on Thursday authorised four trade bodies of the country to issue the “Certificate of Origin” in their respective regions to the exporters.

The DGFT had initially delisted KCCI from the roster of authorised institutions in September 2023

The DGFT issued the Public Notice Enlistment vide No.38/2023 on Thursday for authorisation of these four trade bodies to issue the Certificate of Origin to the exporters.

In a statement issued to press, KCCI expressed gratitude to Director General of Foreign Trade Santosh Kumar Sarangi for reconsidering its earlier position under which the KCCI was delisted.

“It took KCC&I four months of strenuous efforts to get the earlier decision of DGFT reviewed after fulfilling all the requirements to ON-BOARD on e-COO on the Common Digital Platform under Trade Notice No: 42/2020-21 dated: 19-02-2021,” reads the statement.

Pertinently, Government of India last month ordered an inquiry into the activities of the KCC&I since 2010 and the authorisation by the DGFT to the trade body to issue Certificate of Origin to JK exporters is a morale booster for them.
