This recognition includes two seats each in various dental fields. Established in 2004, IGGDC Jammu introduced MDS courses in 2020, responding to the demand from undergraduate students.

Presently, seven specialties are approved for MDS, with efforts underway to extend the courses to the remaining two specialties. After several visits and inspections by the Dental Council of India (DCI), IGGDC Jammu rectified all shortcomings, leading to DCI’s recommendation to the Ministry for MDS course recognition.

Dr. Rakesh Krishan Gupta, the Principal and Dean, expressed the significance of this achievement, saying that it provides an affordable opportunity for deserving candidates in J&K and beyond to pursue postgraduate dentistry

The commencement of MDS courses is seen as beneficial for dental services in J&K and expected to enhance academic and healthcare standards at the institution, Gupta said.
