SRINAGAR: Continuing with its welfare measures and aiming to provide assistance to the families of police personnel, including SPOs, Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh sanctioned Special Welfare Relief totaling over Rs 1.01 crore for the next of kin of seven deceased police personnel and SPOs through separate orders.

A Special Welfare Relief of Rs 22 lakh each has been granted to the dependents and legal heirs of the deceased police personnel, namely ASI Bashir Ahmad, ASI Sansar Chand, SgCt Nazir Ahmad, and Follower Sohan Singh, who passed away while in service.

An amount of Rs one lakh each has already been disbursed to the Next of Kin (NoK) of the deceased police personnel to cover the expenses related to the last rites, provided as immediate relief by the Police Headquarters (PHQ) through their respective units. The financial assistance has been sourced from the Contributory Police Welfare Fund.

Furthermore, special relief of Rs 06 lakh each has been sanctioned in favor of the dependents and legal heirs of the deceased SPOs Zahoor Ahmad and SPO Abdul Khaliq, both of whom passed away during their service engagement. The financial assistance has been sourced from the Contributory Welfare Fund of SPOs.

In addition, the DGP has granted financial assistance of Rs. one lakh to the daughter of a martyr police official, intended to cover expenses related to her marriage ceremony. This amount has been drawn from the Police Pariwar Fund.

The Police Headquarters has undertaken several initiatives to ensure increased and timely support to police personnel and their families during times of need. (KNO)
