SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat on Monday reviewed ongoing counter-terrorism operations in Poonch, with officials focusing on the activities and presence of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants in the border district.
Prabhat, accompanied by Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Tejinder Singh, is on a day-long visit to Poonch to assess the overall security situation.
During the visit, the DGP chaired a security review meeting at the district police office in Poonch. Deputy Inspector General of Police, Rajouri-Poonch Range, Sandeep Wazir, and Senior Superintendent of Police, Poonch, Shafqat Hussain, among other officials, attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed the operational situation, existing security arrangements and the progress of efforts to track and neutralise militants operating in the area, officials said.
Discussions also covered coordination among security forces, area domination and surveillance measures aimed at preventing attempts to disturb peace and security in the district.
The security grid along the border was also reviewed, with emphasis on preventing infiltration from across the border, officials said.
