SRINAGAR: Director General of Police J&K Nalin Prabhat on Tuesday reviewed security arrangements for Eid Milad-un-Nabi and other forthcoming events across Jammu and Kashmir, directing officers to ensure foolproof security, effective traffic management and heightened vigilance.
The DGP chaired a security review meeting at Police Control Room Kashmir, which was attended by Spl DGP Coordination J&K, IGP Kashmir, IGP Jammu, Range DIGs, district SSPs/PDs, SSP PCR Kashmir, AIG (Ct & Int) PHQ and other senior officers.
The meeting reviewed security preparedness, deployment strategies, crowd management and traffic regulation measures for Eid Milad-un-Nabi, the Friday following the occasion, Raksha Bandhan and other forthcoming events.
Prabhat directed officers to maintain heightened vigilance and ensure adequate security arrangements at major shrines, mosques and other religious places, with special focus on Dargah Hazratbal and other prominent sites where large congregations and nightlong prayers are expected.
He stressed close coordination among field formations and directed officers to strengthen surveillance at sensitive and vulnerable locations besides ensuring effective deployment at strategic and high-footfall areas.
The DGP also called for comprehensive traffic regulation and route management plans around major religious places and along procession routes to facilitate smooth movement of devotees.
Reviewing arrangements for Raksha Bandhan, Prabhat directed officers to make advance security and traffic arrangements at markets and temples and strengthen surveillance around prominent religious places.
He directed all officers to put in place necessary arrangements well in advance to ensure the peaceful, safe and secure conduct of the forthcoming events across Jammu and Kashmir.
