In this regard, the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) has issued a circular, in which the directions have been passed to the CMOs and MSs to take all necessary measures for discouraging such unfair practices.

“It has come to the notice of undersigned that some agents /touts employed by different Private Testing Labs outside Government Health Care Facilities are motivating patients for carrying-out medical tests privately despite of having such testing facilities available in Government Health Care Facilities,” reads a circular.

It added that a monitoring system should be implemented to address these complaints and inform the relevant directorate. “The health authorities are urged to enforce legal consequences for those involved in promoting private tests over government facilities.”

The order further stated that the patients are encouraged to report any incidents of undue influence towards private testing, underscoring DHSK’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
