SRINAGAR

Taking serious note of dilapidated condition of Drabshalla – Kandni stretch of Highway, the District Commissioner Kishtwar Baseer Ahmed Khan Saturday directed the concerned SHO to lodge an FIR against Chief Engineer BECON c/o 56 APO and OC GREF Kishtwar for non compliance of directions and dereliction of duty.

The order was issued  from the office of DC Kishtwar in which it is mentioned that due to bad condition of this road people are suffering a lot and frequently they resort to protest demonstrations, thus posing a law and order problem for the Administration.

It further mentions that time and again GREF authorities were asked to improve this road and also install side barriers from Kandni to Drabshalla. But no effort was made on part of said authorities to improve the road. As a result of this, public is ventilating serious  concern and the constant apprehension of traffic accidents is increasing day by day as the condition of road has worsened.

The order mentions that OC GREF Kishtwar has intimated that the work on the stretch has been allotted but the contractor is not executing the same and thus the OC sought intervention from District Administration in this regard. Although the GREF can take strict action against the contractor by invoking relevant clauses of contract agreement. But they have not done that.
In wake of this situation and keeping the interest and safety of public in mind the DC Kishtwar Baseer Ahmed Khan has directed the concerned SHO to lodge an FIR against the Chief Engineer BECON c/o 56 APO and OC GREF Kishtwar in this regard clearly mentioning that in case of any mishap or accident on said stretch the responsibility will be fixed on GREF authorities.
