In its drive against narcotic, Awantipora Police has recovered 2.5 Kgs of Charas and arrested three persons including a woman.

According to police spokesman, on January 10, 2014 reliable information was received regarding presence of narcotic substances in the house of one Latief Ahmad Shah son of Abdul Kabir Shah resident of Khrew.

According a small police party was rushed to Khrew under the supervision of SHO Pampore DySP (Prob) Amit Kumar. The party recovered 2.5 Kgs of Charas during search from the said house.

Meanwhile case FIR No.07/2014 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered in police station Pampore in this regard. Three accused persons namely Latief Ahmad Shah son of Abdul Kabir Shah resident of Khrew, Parveena Akther wife Latief Ahmad and Mohammad Altaf Bhat son of Ghulam Qadir Bhat resident of Wuyan were arrested in the said case and are being questioned.   Investigation of the case is going on and more recoveries and arrests are expected. It is the 2nd success of Awantipora police against the drug menace in one week as 11 kgs charas were recovered from Sofigund Tral on 04-01-2014.
