Despite government’s claim of providing quality road network to people in the state, the roads of Gulzarpora Awantipora District Pulwama are in shambles, giving tough time to daily commuters and pedestrians alike.

“Gulzarpora Awantipora is centrally located area that connects the other villages like Renzipora, Badriwan, wakherwan, Nowgam, khanday pora, Baigpora etc with Srinagar, Pulwama and Islamabad is in shambles due to which commuters face many problems especially in rainy season ,” residents told Kashmir Life.

People allege that the road is dotted with potholes and give tough time to the commuters especially the school going children as the village has one higher secondary, one middle school and one private middle school and one PHC.

“I don’t remember when the roads were last time repaired in our area as I always witnessed the same condition of road since decades ,” said a student.

Due to the pathetic condition of the said road , patients also suffer while going to hospital for treatment which creates tizzy among them.

“My wife suddenly fell sick few days back and I went to get a sumo, to take her to the hospital. When I asked driver to come with me, he refused to drive on the said road as it is dotted with potholes,” said Showkat Ahmad , a resident of Gulzarpora area.

The people expressed anger towards the authorities and urged them to look into the matter as early as possible.
The civil society of village Gulzarpora said that they approached to Executive Engineer R&B Pulwama but the officer paid no heed to repeated petitions and prayers.
The Sumo union president of the area Mohammad Akram Sofi also put the same plea regarding the road conditions and acknowledged that at times due to bad roads it is not possible to provide transport facility in the area.
