Director Horticulture, Kashmir Ajaz Ahmad Bhat on Monday inaugurated Fruit Preservation and Utilization Extension Centre in Budgam.
Joint Director Horticulture Kashmir, Chief Horticulture Officer, District Horticulture Officer, Budgam and other field functionaries of the department were present.
Speaking on the occasion, the director directed for conducting short-duration training programmes to motivate youth towards food processing sector.
He asked the fruit growers and youth to avail benefits of the Centrally Sponsored Schemes for establishing fruit and vegetable processing units.
On the occasion, the director distributed 20 authority letters for procurement of machinery under the MIDH Scheme for applicants.
