As part of public outreach programme launched by the Center government for the Union Territory of J&K,  Minister of State for  Union Ministry of  Road  Transport and Highways General (Retired) V. K Singh, conducted an exhaustive public outreach programme at Higher Secondary School, Tikri,  Udhampur on Monday morning.

Commissioner Secretary, PWD (R&B) Department,  Khurshid Ahmed Shah, District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr Piyush Singla, Chief Engineer PWD, Jammu, Des Raj Bhagat,  SSP, Rajiv Omprakash Pandey, ADDC, Ashok Kumar, BDC Chairpersons, district officers besides Sarpanchs, Panchs, Former MLA, Udhampur and a large number of prominent citizens from different Panchayats were present in the programme .

Second day of outreach programme witnessed an overwhelming participation of PRI representatives and the general public who evinced keen interest in this unique initiative of the government.

On the occasion, Gen (Retd) V.K Singh inaugurated Veterinary Hospital Building at Mand (Tikri) and 1×3.15 MVA,33/11 KV receiving station, Chak under R-APDRP commissioned with a cost of Rs.251 lakh besides laying the foundation stone for improvement/up-gradation of Tikri Chanas road. He also inaugurated various works of Rural Development Department executed under 14th FC, PMAYG, SBM, MGNREGA etc in Tikri block of Udhampur district.

After the inauguration, the Minister accompanied by  Commissioner Secretary and District Development Commissioner Udhampur had a round of stalls put up by various departments for generating awareness regarding different schemes launched by the Government of India.

Singh also distributed cheques among old age pensioners besides presenting golden cards to the beneficiaries under Ayushman Bharat flagship scheme and giving away Mamta kits to newly born girls under BBBP and sports kits under Khelo India.

The Union Minister of State, while inspecting the stalls established by different departments highlighting schemes and products of their respective departments, interacted with the officers and reviewed the progress of these schemes on ground.

While addressing the gathering, Singh expressed satisfaction over the implementation of several government schemes in the district. He appreciated the efforts of district administration towards conservation of water and focus on organic farming.

 

Singh said that Government is committed to develop J&K UT and numerous innovative steps are being initiated in this regard which are yielding tangible results.

Singh also interacted with the public and had feedback of implementation of various government schemes on ground. He also interacted with the beneficiaries of different schemes. He assured the gathering that all their demands will be addressed on priority.

Singh said that road connectivity is the basic requirement for growth and development of an area and Center government is endeavoring hard to establish a strong road network in the UT.

He called upon the officers to make sincere and dedicated efforts towards taking the benefits of all government schemes to the targeted sections of the society.

“Government is determined to provide enhanced basic facilities to people of the area at their doorsteps” he affirmed while emphasizing the need of strong coordination between the administration and the people for effective implementation of various welfare and development programmes.

Commissioner Secretary highlighted the progress of various mega projects and flagship schemes across the UT.

BDC Chairman, Tikri, Nisha Sharma, projected several demands including adequate health facilities, Foot over the bridge at Tikri and Mand, Degree College at Tikri, posting of Gynecologist etc.

Earlier, Dr Piyush Singla, highlighted the mega projects, flagship schemes being executed in the district including  Ropeway Project Patnitop, Solid Waste Management Project Mand and Waste Disposal through Heat 250 Kg/hr at Sui-Jakhar (Udhampur), Pollution Abatement of Holy River Devika, Yoga International Convention Centre Mantalai, National Highway (NH-44, NH-244), Medical College, Jal Jeevan Mission, Jeevika Project, Land Bank for industries, Sakoon-e Awam etc.
