SRINAGAR: Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, Sunil Sharma, on Monday said that the National Conference (NC) is inciting religious sentiments over the Waqf Amendment Bill.
Speaking to reporters, Sharma said that the Waqf Bill has already been passed in Parliament and is now sub judice. Therefore, discussing the Bill in the Assembly is unconstitutional.
He said that three National Conference parliamentarians remained silent on the issue, and now the party, including the Speaker, is trying to incite religious sentiments by demanding a discussion on the Bill in the Assembly.
He added that the issue raised by them is intended to gain media attention. (KNO)
