The residents of Veer Chattabal whose dwellings on the banks of river were demolished by government a few years ago, Wednesday staged protest demonstration in Press Enclave here seeking rehabilitation.

“We’re homeless, living in a single rented room. Some even spent chilly days and nights in temporary tents. We were promised rehabilitation at the time of dismantling of our residential sheds but those promises are still unfulfilled,” the residents said, adding, “At least 85 families from Rampora Ghat at Veer Chattabal are homeless and need immediate attention from the Government.”

“The present government had assured us that we will be rehabilitated but till date nothing has been done,” said an ailing elderly man.

The protesters appealed the Chief Minister, Rehabilitation and Revenue Minister and Divisional Commissioner Baseer Khan to look into the matter. (CNS)
