SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, on Thursday convened a meeting to review the condition of roads in the Srinagar City.
Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone, Chief Engineers of R&B, PHE and PDD, Commissioner SMC, GM BSNL, Deputy Director Planning and other concerned officials were present in the meeting.
On the occasion, the Divisional Commissioner said that the Chief Minister has taken serious note of bad condition of city roads having resulted from haphazard constructions and lack of co-ordination among the PHE, R&B, PDD, SMC and BSNL departments.
The Div Com directed all the five departments to share their annual action plan with each other to ensure well planned execution of works. The concerned departments have been asked to lift the excavation material within 24 hours from the roads and undertake the restoration work as per the specifications of R&B Department.
In the meeting, the Chief Engineer, R&B, was deputed as Nodal Officer, who will ensure better coordination between these departments.
The Div Com also directed the Chief Engineer to submit a list of 12 bailey bridges so that these are installed at required places in the city to reduce the traffic congestion.
