A high level meeting was Saturday convened under the Chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Shailendra Kumar to discuss the measures being taken to create the conducive atmosphere for the tourist inflow to the Kashmir Valley during ensuing tourist season.

The Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, A.G. Mir, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Shah, divisional heads, Chief Engineers of various disciplines were also present, besides Hoteliers and Transporters.

The Divisional Commissioner urged upon all concerned officers to make all possible efforts for smooth running of tourist season 2013, adding that tourist industry is one of the major components of the economy of the Valley. He said Kashmir is bestowed with natural beauty and the tourists from various States of the country and abroad visit Kashmir to enjoy the scenic beauty here. He said, however, it is the responsibility of administration to ensure proper measures for the massive inflow of the tourists in the Valley.

Shailendra directed the transporters to ensure un-interrupted traffic movement in the municipal areas in Srinagar city and other inter-district routes so that people in general and tourist in particular do not face any inconvenience.

Referring to movement of school buses and ambulances, Divisional Commissioner directed all concerned authorities to create such an atmosphere so that school going children and patients reach to their destinations without any difficulty.

Shailendra Kumar directed Srinagar Municipal Corporation and UEED to maintain proper drainage and cleanliness in the city.

The Divisional Commissioner also stressed upon the officers to work with sincerity and dedication and ensure work culture in government offices to help the people in mitigating their problems.
