Srinagar: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, on Wednesday convened a meeting to review the stock and supply position of essential commodities in the Valley.

Additional Commissioner Kashmir, DIG Traffic, Deputy Director FCS&CA, Deputy Director Planning, Representatives from oil companies and other concerned attended the meeting.

The meeting was informed that the FCS&CA Department has sufficient stock of rice, flour and sugar, besides petrol, diesel, kerosene and LPG cylinders at their depots.

On the occasion, the Div Com directed the FCS&CA officials to intensify market checking drive to keep a check on profiteering, hoarding and black marketing.

He said violators should be dealt sternly as per laws. He said that every shopkeeper should display the approved rate lists of items like mutton, vegetables, milk and other essential commodities.

Khan further asked the officers to launch mass awareness drives among the general consumers so that tangible results are achieved in price and quality control.

He directed the FCS&CA officers to work with added zeal and dedication to ensure effective and efficient public delivery system and streamlining of the Department.
