During a review meeting, Garg assessed the progress of the scheme being implemented under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM), with particular focus on the completion and commissioning of the 60-million-litre-per-day (MLD) Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Noorbagh in Srinagar.

The outstanding works include installation of a hydraulic gate at the Noorbagh outfall near the damaged riverbank, remodelling of transformers at the Outfall Pumping Station and Infall Pumping Station, plugging leakages at the treatment plant, and refurbishing its agitators and aerators.

Garg also directed the Executive Engineer of UEED to inspect the site twice a week to monitor progress, improve coordination among the departments concerned and ensure that the remaining works are completed within the stipulated timeframe.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Chief Engineer of UEED, General Manager of NBCC, and officers from the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), Public Health Engineering (PHE), Roads and Buildings Department, and Srinagar Municipal Corporation.
