SRINAGAR:

Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, on Thursday conducted an extensive tour of Srinagar City and reviewed the progress of various ongoing developmental works.

He was accompanied by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chief Engineer R&B, IGP Traffic, SP Traffic, Police, Revenue officers, officials of Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA), Irrigation & Flood Control, (I&FC),SMC & PDD.

Div Com directed the SMC officials to remove all encroachments on both sides of Batmaloo-Tengpora road for the smooth movement of traffic and for convenience of pedestrians. He directed R&B officials to undertake the macadamization of the road immediately.

He directed the concerned officers to remove all the hurdles on the Rambagh-Tengpora under pass road immediately so that the construction work on this vital road is taken in hand. The spot for construction of new Bailey bridge connecting Barzulla-Alochabagh was also identified.

Later Div Com inspected ongoing construction work on Rambagh-Jehangir Chowk flyover being executed by ERA) at an estimated cost of Rs 262 crores. He urged the officials to make judicious use of funds and ensuring quality work. He also asked the officials to work in tandem so that the vital project is completed within the stipulated time.

He also reviewed the construction work on Mehjoor Nagar bridge which is also being executed by ERA at an estimated cost of Rs 45 crore.

He also directed the officials to not to allow any movement of tippers and other heavy vehicles on the recently constructed Bailey bridge and directed them to put iron bars on both sides of the bridge to block their movement.

While inspecting pace of dredging work of Rambagh Flood Channel,

the Divisional Commissioner directed I&FC officials to form a monitoring squad to put a check on illegal dredging.
