More than 10,000 earthen lamps illuminated the clock tower and its surroundings, transforming the city centre into a brightly lit spectacle.

People from Hindu, Sikh and Muslim communities joined the celebrations, lighting diyas, exchanging greetings and sharing the festive spirit. The gathering reflected an atmosphere of communal harmony and togetherness.

The celebrations also attracted visitors from different parts of the country. Several non-local visitors who had travelled to Srinagar for Diwali said they were delighted to celebrate the festival in the city and were enjoying the occasion.

People were also seen capturing photographs and videos of the illuminated Ghanta Ghar and its surroundings as the celebrations continued through the evening.

Earlier, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had extended Diwali greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and others celebrating the festival across the country and abroad, wishing them happiness, peace and prosperity.

Diwali, also known as Deepavali, is widely celebrated as the festival of lights and symbolises the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.
