SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday ordered a probe into manhandling of doctor by policemen in Srinagar, said a spokesman.

A police spokesman in a statement said that the Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar took strong notice of complaint appearing in some media circles about police personnel while discharging their duties on the road.

“He also instructed the senior officer to submit a factual report regarding the same,” said the spokesman.

“It was also reiterated that Doctors, Paramedics and Police are jointly combating Covid-19 and whatever incident has taken place, we shall look into them, conduct an impartial enquiry and take due action,” he said.

The spokesman in a statement said that in addition to appreciate the good work done by JKP/CAPFs in ensuring all government directions regarding control of COVID-19 are implemented in letter and spirit.

The IGP also issued strict directions regarding ensuring that all COVID frontline workers are facilitated properly.

“At the same time, he also appealed to the Doctors and Paramedics to cooperate with policemen on the ground,” said the spokesman.

“He also said that we all frontline workers shall ensure that persons with vested interests shall not be allowed to misuse any situation to vitiate the atmosphere and hamper the immensely important work being done by all COVID warriors together,” said the spokesman.
