SRINAGAR: Secretary Health and Medical Education, Dr Abid Rasheed Shah, on Monday directed the immediate repatriation of doctors who have overstayed their deputation or tenure postings at Government Medical Colleges in Jammu and Srinagar.
The directive, issued through an official order, responds to unauthorised extensions granted to doctors beyond the prescribed limits for such postings.
“In the interest of administration and patient care in peripheral areas, it is hereby ordered that the doctors (Consultants/Medical Officers) borne on the establishment of Jammu & Kashmir Health and Family Welfare (Gazetted) Service, who do not possess super specialisation in any medical/surgical discipline and are presently continuing on deputation or tenure postings unauthorisedly, beyond the maximum prescribed period of four years (for deputation) and three years (for tenure postings) in Government Medical College, Jammu / Government Medical College, Srinagar, are hereby repatriated forthwith to the concerned Directorates, viz. Directorate of Health Services, Jammu and Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir respectively,” it reads.
The order reads, “All the aforesaid doctors shall be deemed to have been relieved from Government Medical College, Jammu and Government Medical College, Srinagar with immediate effect, and non-compliance of these orders shall be reported by the concerned Directorates for initiation of disciplinary proceedings against such delinquent doctors.”
“The concerned Principals and Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) of Government Medical College, Jammu and Government Medical College, Srinagar shall in no case draw salary in respect of such repatriated doctors. Failure to adhere to these instructions, in letter and spirit, shall be viewed seriously and treated as a financial irregularity, inviting disciplinary action as per rules against the concerned DDO.” (JKNS)
