SRINAGAR: The District Administration Doda has advised devotees from the district planning to undertake the Shri Manimahesh Yatra-2026 to complete mandatory online registration in advance, as the annual pilgrimage to Shri Manimahesh Lake in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district is scheduled from September 4 to 19.
The advisory was issued following a communiqué received from the District Magistrate, Chamba, stressing registration for the safety and security of pilgrims and effective management of the yatra.
As per the advisory, the Shri Manimahesh Trust has fixed a daily limit of 5,000 pilgrims. No devotee will be allowed to proceed for the pilgrimage without prior registration.
Pilgrims have been advised to complete the registration through the official portal and strictly follow instructions issued by the Chamba administration and Shri Manimahesh Trust from time to time.
The administration has also urged pilgrims to maintain cleanliness along the route and avoid littering or dumping plastic and other waste, citing the fragile Himalayan ecosystem.
Devotees have further been advised against carrying goats, sheep or other animals for sacrifice, as animal sacrifice at religious places is prohibited under the prevailing laws in Himachal Pradesh.
The Chamba administration has also cautioned pilgrims about the condition of the track and road leading to Bharmour, which suffered extensive damage during the 2025 monsoon. While repair work is underway, the newly created trekking path remains fragile.
The authorities said the yatra could be cancelled or further restricted in case of worsening weather conditions.
The Doda administration urged intending pilgrims to undertake the pilgrimage only after completing the mandatory registration and to remain updated with official advisories to ensure a safe and hassle-free yatra.
