The government Wednesday said that a total of 4157 persons have been booked in 2009 cases of domestic violence in last five years.

In a written reply to PDP lawmaker, Anjum Fazili, the government said, “it has already enacted a law namely The J&K Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2010.”

Yesterday, on day three of on-going Autumn session of state legislature, the government said that it is on the job of constructing “shelter Homes” for the victims of domestic violence. Besides, it has decided to float helpline numbers to give timely rescue to such victims.
