SRINAGAR: Following reports of attacks on Kashmiri students and traders outside the Valley, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said that people should stop targeting Kashmiris in other states.
Speaking to reporters, CM Omar said there are reports of Kashmiris being targeted in various states.
“I request the people of India not to consider the people of Kashmir as their enemies. If the Centre is saying that the attack was carried out by Pakistan, then why are the youth and students of Jammu and Kashmir being targeted in other states? This should stop,” he said.
CM Omar further said that he had spoken to several Chief Ministers and requested them to ensure the safety of Jammu and Kashmir youth in their respective states. “The people of Jammu and Kashmir are not enemies of peace. What happened did not take place with our consent. We must move forward.”
He added that the government sympathises with all those who were killed in the Pahalgam terror attack. “Be it the local civilian who took bullets to protect our guests, or the tourists who had come here to enjoy their holidays,” CM Omar said. (KNO)
