Saying that their policy and road map on Kashmir remains the same even if they remain outside power, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Tuesday said for him it hardly matters which political party comes in power in Delhi.
Addressing a seminar on human rights day at his residence in Hyderpora, Geelani said that India claims to be a largest democracy but on ground, ‘it inflicts worst kind of human rights violations especially in Jammu and Kashmir.’
Geelani said that people should not waste their time in keeping a track on government formation in Delhi as both Congress and the BJP have share a common policy when it comes to the welfare of Muslims and people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Mohammad Maqbool Bhat and Mohammad Afzal Guru were hanged by this India which has been inflicting gross human rights abuses in Kashmir for the last 23 years. In view of this dismal human rights scenario, how does it suit India to claim of being a largest democracy in the world?” asked the senior separatist leader.
He also rejected an out of box solution for Kashmir. Holding government of India responsible for a deadlock vis-à-vis peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue, Geelani, said there is a deliberate attempt to block the peaceful means adopted by the Kashmiri freedom movement to reach its logical conclusion.
Reiterating his election boycott call, Geelani asked people to respect the sacrifices of martyrs by boycotting the forthcoming elections. “People must understand that pro India political parties exploit the elections being held in Jammu and Kashmir at an international level. By casting votes, people should not allow these collaborators to infringe upon their right to self determination,” he added.
