Delhi Public School Budgam has completed a decade of its operations. The school celebrated the day with staffers and students sharing their memories that spanned for a decade. For the grand function, the school had invited Talat Ahmad, VC Kashmir University and Sufi G Rasool, Chairman Wakf Board.

“Since 2008 when the school began its journey, it has been a voyage of constant striving exploration on the educational landscape,” the school said in a statement. “Be it well being, curriculum, learning, assessment, reporting student performance measures, teaching excellence or development of culture, the school has been truly devotional.”
The Chief Guest Talat Ahmad congratulated the school authorities and was delighted to attend the programme. He appreciated the standard of the school and said “It is the best platform for the development of our children. I would like to have more of such private schools and even private colleges too if they could work on similar terms”. He further added that the students of DPS Budgam are the best ambassadors to represent the culture and heritage of Kashmir.
The Presiding Guest, Sufi G. Rasool cited the examples from the past to stress the importance of education. He said, “DPS Budgam is developing at a fast rate and is helping in the holistic development of our children”. He further said that DPS Budgam has succeeded in giving a message of universal brotherhood.
It was a festive time for the school community as they reflected on the school’s past by recollecting the memories of those who have helped to shape the present. Every person who has influenced the character and values that embody the vibrant, engaging and safe environment we see today was acknowledged. It was an opportunity to laugh, cry, remember and to praise the memories of the wonderful school.
Salman Anees Soz, Director DPS Budgam stressed the need of equal treatment and education for every child. He said without education there is no foundation for a child. He recollected several past memories. He said “I am never satisfied. I always want improvement and that is the key to growth”. He promised to focus more on academics and extracurriculars. He further added that the parents in the present era have to be more vigilant.”
The school used the occasion to reflect and thank its founder Mrs. Mumtazunnisa Soz, its foundation staff, students and parents who have been with the school from the very beginning. Ms. Shobhna Sirohi the founder Head Mistress of the school under whose guidance the Junior School is still flourishing also graced the occasion. With over 50 special guests, it was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the incredible learning environment and connected community that we have developed in our short history.

Mumtazunnisa Soz, PRO VC Delhi Public School Budgam said: “As we celebrate the dedication and achievements of the past decade we also dedicate ourselves to a more promising future with our vision realised”. She shared her experience as a teacher and administrator “I believe in doing things rather than speaking about them. But sometimes couldn’t believe that a decade has passed away”, she said. She recognised the dedication of her colleagues.
The day was marked by a series of presentations both by the students and the teachers ranging from singing, dancing to all the fun and frolic. A documentary presentation highlighting the various activities of the school and the release of the first ever calendar of Delhi Public School Budgam were among the chief attractions.
In his vote of thanks, the Principal Mehfooz Aslam briefly recollected the milestones of the growth of DPS Budgam. He expressed a deep gratitude to all the stakeholders for the visible success and achievements. He also shared the glimpses of the short term and long term goals that the school will achieve within three years.
