Three Class XI students — Ahana Manzoor, Maryum and Sasha Munir — have secured places in the Jammu and Kashmir team for the 2026 Junior National Rugby 7’s Championship for Girls following open selection trials conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Rugby Association under the supervision of the J&K Sports Council at the Polo Ground in Srinagar on June 29.

The trio will represent the Union Territory at the national championship to be held at Woxsen University in Hyderabad, Telangana, from July 6 to 7.

In another achievement for the school, Class XII students Alishba Jeelani and Houriyah Showket have been selected to participate in the 14th Senior National Pencak Silat Championship, scheduled to be held at the Gymnasium Hall in Shillong, Meghalaya, from July 6 to 8.

Congratulating the students, DPS Srinagar Principal Shafaq Afshan said the selections reflected the athletes’ discipline, hard work and balanced pursuit of academics and sports.

“These selections reflect the rigorous discipline and holistic development that define our students as they step onto the national arena to showcase their sportsmanship,” she said.

School Chairman Vijay Dhar said the achievements highlighted the institution’s commitment to nurturing young talent beyond the classroom.

“Our goal remains to build resilient leaders who excel beyond the classroom, and these young women exemplify the future of sports excellence in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
