SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Bank has appointed Dr Altaf Hussain Kira as Chief Risk Officer. He is already an Assistant Vice President in the Bank. The appointment has been made in compliance with the relevant RBI directives, an order by the bank said.
Dr Kira has replaced Ms Tabasum Nazir as the Chief Risk Officer for a period of three years.
Kira, 50 years, holds a PhD in Economics and Post-Doctoral Fellowship from IGIDR, Mumbai. He is presently managing affairs of the Integrated Risk Management Department of Jammu and Kashmir Bank Limited for the last decade. Dr Kira also holds a degree in MBA (Finance) from the University of Kashmir and CAIIB-II from the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance.
Dr Kira’s vast banking experience spanning over 24 years shall come handy to the senior management of the Bank in the development and implementation of the Bank’s Risk Management functions, the bank said in a communication addressed to the National Stock Exchange. It said Dr Kira has dynamic nature and vast experience that makes him a good leader and motivator which shall help the Bank in strengthening the staff skills and adding value to the risk management systems, policies, processes, quantitative models and reports to ensure that the Bank’s risk management capabilities are sufficiently robust and effective to achieve its strategic objectives.
