National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah has expressed grave concern over fresh spell of cease fire violation along the Line of Control in Poonch’s Krishna Gati Sector, leading to killing of two soldiers and injuries to several others including civilians.

Dr Abdullah said that shelling for the past few weeks has generated fear psychosis among the border dwellers, resulting in their dislocation from home and hearth. He said the brunt of border skirmishes is hugely borne by the residents of forward areas and hoped that India and Pakistan will get engaged in a meaningful dialogue bringing end to the hostilities.

He said escalation in tensions has paralyzed life in entire belt along the International Border and Line of Control in Jammu & Kashmir.

Two soldiers were killed, in two separate shelling incidents, as three persons including a woman and two soldiers were injured on Sunday. One slain soldiers was identified as Gursewak Singh of 22 Sikh regiment, a resident of Taran Taran area of Punjab. He had suffered gunshot wound and breathed his last while being evacuated to the hospital, reports said.

Police have identified the injured woman as Saleema Akhtar who is recapturing in the hospital.

Meanwhile Congress also expressed grave concern over the situation all along the border. They express concern over the hardships being faced by the border residents and the lack of adequate facilities in the prevailing situation and the failure of the centre and state government to fulfill the promises made to them during elections especially grant of five marlas plot in safer areas and bunkers besides extending benefits of reservation on the pattern of LOC residents   and special recruitments for the border youth. The victims of firings in the shape of human casualities and cattle and properties are not being adequately compensated beside lack of proper facilities in camps.
