National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah on Sunday expressed concern over shortage of food grains at ration depots, especially in the far off and remote areas, hoping that the government will ensure adequate supplies to meet the requirements of rationees.

Interacting with a delegation of National Conference workers from Gool, Dr Abdullah said the government cannot abdicate its responsibility in ensuring and maintaining adequate buffer in the remote areas, an NC statement said this evening.

Led by Dr Shamshaad Shan, the delegation apprised Dr Abdullah about erratic power and water supply besides neglect of the utility services, as a result of which the people were suffering immensely.

Dr Shan said, “the coalition government is suffering from developmental inertia and the works taken up during the National Conference led government have either been abandoned or going on with snail’s pace.” “Remote areas have been totally neglected and people were suffering many hardships due to lack of basic amenities.”
