SRINAGAR

The Union Minister and president National Conference, Dr Farooq Abdullah Monday filed his nomination papers from the Srinagar Parliamentary seat. He was flanked by his son and the state Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Pradesh Congress president, Saifuddin Soz.

Senior Abdullah took his oath for the election while filing his papers at the office of the returning officer, Farooq Ahmad Shah.

Abdullah after filing his nomination papers said that BJP’s Parime Ministerial candidate, Narindra Modi was a threat to democracy. “Modi is a threat to democracy and everybody should vote against BJP.”

Dr Farooq Abdullah is the coalition candidate representing National Conference and Congress on Srinagar seat.

Oppsition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has fielded its senior leader and former finance minister, Tariq Hamid Karra against Farooq.

The election for the Srinagar seat is scheduled on April 30.
