Governor NN Vohra, Chancellor of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), Kashmir, has, after consultation with the Pro-Chancellor, appointed Dr Nazeer Ahmed, Director, ICAR-Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture, Srinagar, as Vice Chancellor of SKUAST, Kashmir, for a period of five years or until he attains the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier, w.e.f. the date he takes over charge.

“Dr Nazeer Ahmed, a well known reputed Horticulturist, has earlier served in the SKUAST-K for about 22 years and has been serving as Director, ICAR-Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture, Srinagar for the past nearly 8 years. He has completed his Masters and Ph. D degrees in Horticulture (Olericulture) from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana respectively and underwent training in several national and international organizations. With rich research experience of over three decades, many of Dr. Nazeer’s papers have been published in reputed national and international journals,” the official spokesperson said.

While appointing Dr Ahmed as Vice Chancellor, SKUAST, Kashmir, the Governor has expressed hope that he will maintain the obtaining momentum and further enhance the teaching, research and academic activities in the University. “The Governor has thanked Dr. Tej Pratap, the outgoing Vice Chancellor, for his valued contribution and services to the University.”
