SRINAGAR: Principal Secretary, School Education and Skill Development, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, on Thursday chaired a joint meeting of officers of JKBOSE and School Education Department to review preparedness for the upcoming offline examinations of 10th, 11th and 12th class in Kashmir division and winter zone of Jammu division.

Secretary, JK BOSE, Riyaz Ahmed, Director School Education, Kashmir, Mohammad Younis and other concerned officers were present in the meeting while Chairperson JKBOSE, Veena Pandita participated through video conferencing.

A threadbare discussion was held on various issues regarding the conduct of annual examination 2020 for 10th, 11th and 12th class and Bi-Annual private examination for 10th and 12th class in Kashmir Division and winter zone of Jammu Division.

The meeting was informed that the proposal regarding these exams has been approved by the government and JK BOSE is all set to conduct the said examinations amid following of all necessary preventive protocols and guidelines regarding COVID-19. It was also decided in the meeting that the examination shall be conducted off line as per the prospectus.

Chairperson JKBOSE, Veena Pandita, also apprised the meeting of working of the Board during the pandemic like distribution of textbooks to all stakeholders, conduct of examination and declaration of results.

Principal Secretary directed the concerned authorities to provide all logistic support for conduct of the said examinations.

Earlier, Dr Samoon conducted a surprise visit to the office of JK Board of School Education, Bemina to take a detailed report about the working there.

During the surprise visit, Principal Secretary visited various blocks and sections of the JKBOSE and interacted with the staffs in different sections.

Among others, senior officers of School Education Department were also present during the visit.

Meanwhile, Principal Secretary, Skill Development and School Education Department, Dr Asgar Samoon also visited Directorate of Skill Development, Bemina and Government Polytechnic for Women Bemina and reviewed their functioning besides interacting with the officers and officials of the Directorate and inspected different sections of the Directorate.

Dr Samoon asked the officers to identify 300 pass outs from Polytechnic and ITIs to apprise them of start-up a support system, first-hand exposure of running an enterprise as a hand holding initiative in collaboration with JKEDI.

Principal Secretary impressed upon Director, Skill Development to formulate a proposal for training of 1000 school dropouts of Srinagar district in different Short Term market-oriented courses.

At Government Polytechnic for Women Bemina, Principal Secretary interacted with the Principal and faculty and took stock of functioning of the institution.

Meanwhile, he visited faculty departments, library and Solar Power Plant in the institution and also interacted with the Faculty and passed on spot directions to the Principal and faculty to introduce market driven add-on courses in addition to regular diploma programs. He also stressed upon the Principal to conduct Entrepreneurship Development Programs for students in collaboration with JKEDI.
