Dr Suhail Naik was on Thursday elected the new president of Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK).

The elections for the new Central Executive body of Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) were held for the 4th term in a local Hotel in Srinagar.

It was for the first time that such a huge democratic exercise was carried out with massive participation from every part of the valley, a spokesperson of the DAK said.

The overall process of election was monitored by DAK Chief Election Commissioner Dr M Saleem Bhat.

The process of counting votes concluded at 2 PM and the results were declared at 2.45 PM. Simultaneously, District bodies were also elected for concerned districts.

Dr Mir Waseem has been elected as its Senior vice-president, Dr Owais H Dar was elected the general secretary while Dr Arif Khawaja was elected as Social Media In charge of the association.

Dr Masood Ul Hassan was elected media and publicity secretary while Dr Irshad Muntazir is the chief spokesperson of the association and Dr Imtiyaz Banday and Dr Fayaz Ahmad elected as spokespersons of the DAK.

After being elected, Dr Suhail Naik said, “I will represent aspirations, demands and problems of both doctors and the public and I will act as a bridge between doctors, common people and government and will work for the welfare of doctors.”

Dr Naik said, DAK is only association of doctors and there is no other association in Kashmir and DAK will go to the Press Council of India and will file a complaint against those media houses that represent Dr Nisar Ul Hassan as a President of DAK.
