Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and the party candidate for Rajpora constituency, Dr Haseeb Drabu Wednesday said that PDP has a crucial role to play and a great responsibility to discharge in shaping up a politically vibrant and economically stable Jammu & Kashmir.
Reviewing the strategy for upcoming Assembly polls at a PDP workers convention here today, Drabu called upon the State’s youth to become the torch-bearers of this new enterprise of hope aimed at not only changing the government in the state but transforming the very system of governance in J&K, a party statement said.
“Unfortunately youth became the specific targets of the more than two decades long turmoil in Kashmir consuming nearly an entire young generation,” he said and added that the society can’t afford to lose more youth now, and measures have to be taken to safeguard their future.
“The need, therefore, is not only to protect the precious lives of the youth but create increasing opportunities for them to develop their personality and their functional capability and make them economically productive and socially useful,” he said and added that despite passing through the darkest era of our history, the main source of the State’s confidence is the substantial potential of building upon its young human resource.
“Even in the most difficult times, our young boys and girls are doing us proud in whatever field they take a plunge,” he said and added the problem of unemployment especially among the educated youth is a matter of grave concern and needs immediate thought.
Drabu said in Jammu & Kashmir, the educated youth are mostly eyeing the government jobs as the sectors outside the government have just not flourished, because of the lopsided policies and faulty planning. “We need to break this vicious circle,” he said adding that after all states like Jammu & Kashmir offer tremendous job potential in various promising sectors outside the government, if the same are harnessed to their full potential. He said it would be PDP’s endeavour to ensure a secure and economically productive future for the youth, the statement said.
Complimenting PDP cadres for having successfully and effectively carried the party’s political and economic agenda to the grassroots level, Drabu said the PDP cadres sacrificed their personal interests for the larger objective of ensuring peace, dignity and prosperity for the State and its people. “It is because of the untiring efforts of the PDP cadres that their party has today become a real people’s movement across Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
To ensure larger voter mobilization and effective coordination among PDP cadres at the grassroots level in run up to the Assembly polls, Drabu announced segmentation of Rajpora constituency into four zones with each zone to be headed by a Zonal coordinator.
He also announced setting up of a grievance redressel cell in the constituency to reach out to the masses for speedy disposal of their grievances.
