Ladies Special Bus with Male Paasengerns on baord on May 04, 2016Jammu and Kashmir police Wednesday said that the driver of an SRTC bus was Challaned.

“SRTC driver was Challaned for boarding male passengers in ladies special bus launched recently in Srinagar.” JKP spokesperson said this evening.

An SRTC ladies special bus bearing registration number JK01Y-0631 was found carrying 30 overloaded male passengers by police Nowhatta. Subsequently, a challan for overloading was presented before the Hon’ble Court against the driver, the spokesperson said.

Police have also written to SRTC authorities to take action against the driver for boarding male passengers in ladies special bus.

Meanwhile, poppy cultivation was destroyed in Budgam, police said.

Continuing its drive against contraband cultivation, police destroyed Poppy cultivation in Budgam today.

A team of Budgam police headed by SSP Budgam Fayaz Ahmad Lone in association with SDM Khan Sahib and officials of Excise Department destroyed poppy crop spread over 30   Kanals of land at Kulbugh, Khan Sahib. The legal action was initiated against the perpetrators under the relevant sections of law. The drive will continue in future also.
