SRINAGAR: Search and rescue teams were continuing efforts on Friday to trace and retrieve the body of a nine-year-old boy who reportedly drowned in Madhumati Nalla near District Police Lines (DPL) Bandipora on Thursday.
The boy has been identified as Moomin Ahmad, son of Aashiq Hussain Ganie and a resident of Ganie Mohalla, Kuloosa, Bandipora.
According to reports, Moomin slipped into the stream near Kaloosa Bridge while attempting to retrieve a ball and was swept away by the strong current.
Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Bandipora, and Battalion Headquarters, Srinagar, were engaged in the search operation on Friday to locate and recover the boy’s body.
Further details are awaited as the searches are underway.
