SRINAGAR: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, police have arrested a drug peddler in Ganderbal and recovered psychotropic substances from his possession.
“A police team from Police Station Kheerbawani, while conducting a checkpoint at Baroosa Chowk, intercepted a suspicious person who attempted to flee upon noticing the naka party. He was apprehended tactfully and identified as Ashiq Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Hameed Dar, a resident of Sarai Dangerpora, Bandipora,” police said.
During the search, contraband substance (Codeine Phosphate) was recovered from his possession. He was subsequently arrested.
Accordingly, a case under FIR No. 17/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kheerbawani and investigation has been initiated.
Police urge the public to report any instance of drug peddling or other crimes to the nearest police station or by dialling 112.
