Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler, following action against those involved in drug peddling in Ganderbal.

A police spokesman in a statement said that the drug peddler identified as Suhail Ahmed Tantray son of Mohammad Yousuf Tantray resident of Wakura was arrested for the drug offences has been taken to Police Station Ganderbal.

“This is a part of proactive action initiated by Ganderbal police against the drug peddlers of Central Kashmir,” the spokesman said.

“Officers on the spot have seized 15 bottles of codeine phosphate from his possession,” he said.

“Case FIR No 26/2019 under relevant sections has been registered in Police Station Ganderbal and investigation has been taken up,” he added.

“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law,” the spokesman said.
